The landmark project has taken two years to plan and execute and is a historically significant for all who live, work and play in the Superior border lakes region that we call Heart of the Continent. All sites and attractions that have been nominated and are on the website are invited to attend any of the venues to receive their certificate of recognition from the National Geographic Society.

Food and Lodging:
Overnight lodging must be booked by attendees. There are blocks reserved for Wednesday and Thursday lodging, but you must call and book a room.
Wednesday night: There is a block of rooms at Days Inn Lakewalk at around $62 – mention you are with “Heart of the Continent.” Call 1-800-392-1019
Thursday night: There is a block of rooms at Grand Portage Lodge at $49 hillside or $59 lakeside. Call 1-218-475-2401
We encourage participants to stay on-site, as it promotes more opportunities for informal conversations and networking. If you choose to stay off-site, nearby hotels can be found at www.traveltheheart.org
Costs:
Sessions: There is no cost to attend any of the Media Launch celebrations
Lodging: Arrangements to be made by those attending
Meals: Thursday lunch at Larsmont Cottages and Thursday Dinner at Grand Portage Lodge are both on your own $. Coffee and doughnuts will be available at Glensheen Mansion and Fort William Historical Park.
